What’s Happening at The Restomod Shop?
The Restomod Shop is always working on many classic Mustangs for their owners. Here’s a great example. This little 1966 coupe is being completely restored with a few little “Restomod” touches added to it like the beautiful blue paint that’s just been sprayed on. I believe this is the same color we painted Project Reclaim which we named Restomod Blue. As you can see, every nut and bolt will be replaced with new and the engine and transmission will either be totally gone through or, if they’re in good condition or were rebuilt in the past, they will be completely detailed to look like new. Again, with a few Restomod touches added.
Most times when the Restomod Shop paints a car, they paint it piece by piece. Then, all the pieces are wet sanded, polished and detailed before each piece is bolted back on the car. The Restomod Shop’s duel paint booths are both used during this process. The body is painted in one side while the parts, including the hood, doors, trunk lid, and valances, are all put onto racks and sprayed in the other side at the same time. This way, the outside, and inside temperatures are the same and, with the mixing room in the middle between the two paint booths, the painter can spray all the pieces with the same mixture of paint. Painting the car this way assures that all of the paint will dry on all of the parts the same color and really pop when assembled.
